McLightenment, the spiritual fast-food kiosk of the playa, offers quick salvation to the masses. With a bit of mischievousness, a dollop of satire and a cherry of fun on top, it pokes fun at this fast food nation where spirituality is experienced on a Sunday morning or the weekly yoga class. We ask people to consider what it is they are trying to attain when they think about “Enlightenment”, regardless of the tradition they base that concept on. As an offering towards their own self-realization, we give them a gift (their order) to take with them or pass on to others. While we have been working on this idea for a while, the concept seems particularly suited for this years theme of “The American Dream”, for there is no dream that is external of ourselves, everything- heaven, bliss, nirvana- is within us already.
